Most background checks take 3-7 business days to complete, but some checks may take longer. Every background check is as unique as the individual applying, so the wait time varies with each report.
There are three common reasons why your background check would be delayed:
- We are waiting for a piece of information from you. If this is the case, you will see your report in SUSPENDED status and receive an email from us. Please check your email to see what information we need from you.
- The county court is taking longer than usual to return data. Checkr reviews many databases and county records for public records, and some county courts take longer than others to report data. Frequently there is a significant backlog which can cause a delay in completing your report.
- Your background check includes a screening, like employment or education verification, that will naturally take longer to check.
If Checkr has not requested additional information from you, then you're likely in the final stage of the background check.
